BioHealth® TH BS

A humic acid product that has been combined with a blend of Trichoderma harzianum strains, Bacillus subtilis and seaweed extract, BioHealth® TH BS suppresses soil borne pathogens such as Pseudomonas, Pythium, Phytophthora, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium. It is particularly useful for fruit and vegetable growers, where there is a high incidence of soil borne disease.

New rootstock and seedlings should be submerged in a solution of Biohealth® prior to planting, thereby stimulating the plants’ natural defences, as well as improving the vigour of the roots. Where old and diseased plants and trees have been removed, sites can be “cleaned up” by soil treatment and made readily available for re-use.

Research at AFBI in Belfast has shown that soil treatment with BioHealth® TH BS prior to planting had a number of beneficial effects on plant roots:
• 73% increase in average root length
• 108% increase in average number of forks in the root (branching)

Foliar application at early sowing also produced:
• 71% increase in average root weight

A healthy and robust root system is key to overall plant health, producing a more stable plant that is able to fight stress more easily, particularly in times of drought, disease and extremes of temperature. In addition, a more robust rooting system uses fertilisers and applied nutrients more efficiently.

BioHealth® TH BS is a soil treatment only and is not normally used to treat foliage except in greenhouses with a high humidity and where the risk of leaf infection by pathogens is high.

BioHealth products should not be used where fungicides have been applied. A minimum period of ten days should elapse before use.
